Syracuse Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra that serves
an area of over 10,000 square miles and a population base of over

are full time professionals whose primary, and often only source
of income is the salary we earn from the symphony.
- Each
musician owns an instrument, which in many cases costs as much
as a car, and sometimes more than a house!
- Together
we own millions of dollars worth of instruments.
- We
have have played at Carnegie Hall five times in the last 25 years
-- most recently in 2003.
- Most
of the musicians in the symphony hold graduate degrees, and many
have post-graduate degrees.

Sales for symphony concerts are INCREASING nationwide and in our
community.
- Between
2001 and 2005, the Syracuse Symphony budget grew 24%.
- Between
2001 and 2005, musicians salaries only grew about 14%
- Orchestras
are a great community investment opportunity, because nearly their
entire budget is spent within the community.
- Students
who study music score an average of 57 points higher on the verbal,
and 41 points higher on the math portion of the SAT

set the standard for chamber music. Most other orchestras with
